save our tigers campaign - save tigers/promote brand name?
This Save our Tigers campaign by A****LL cellular is another campaign that I would say is a Advertisement for their brand mainly.
Can someone stop the killing of tigers by sitting and writing in blogs? or will a poacher not kill a tiger just because we are signing posters and pasting it all over walls. Did they ever release the amount it has collected as a donation through their website? Why don't they release the pictures/ videos of any active campaign that they have done in a tiger habitat. I always thought sending an SMS would help my network provider earn money. Can it protect a tiger too?? Or did the network provider donate all the money it received from the SMS campaign towards the WWF fund?
If A*****L really wanted to save our tigers, they / anyone who wants to protect could have done the following.
1. send people inside the forest and start monitoring the movement of tigers and count them instead of leaving this work to the government.
2. Work with an international agency to import latest monitoring devices to monitor tiger populated area and prevent them from being killed.
3. spend money on protecting the tiger habitats
4. spend money on providing good food for tigers in zoos .. at least the tiger which I used to see @ the coimbatore zoo was a victim of malnutrition.
5. Help the government in recruiting more people for the forest guards post and provide them latest equipments which can help them fight against poachers of not just tigers but any kind of animal living in forest. It was a surprise for me when I came to know that a forest guard is not allowed to carry a loaded pistol with him when he goes inside the forest for rounds.. whereas a poacher has a fully loaded pistol and a long range weapon with a sedation device to kill/sedate a big cat.
These are my doubts if anyone has facts on A*****L's active contribution pls share it here.

Earth Hour in India - Does it make any sense?
Well Earth Hour makes very much sense to developed countries and mainly the USA and Europe as a whole where power cuts are rarity. Their lights are ON all the time and they generate a whole lot of heat every minute.
consider India, a Country where some villages get electricity supplied only for 4 hours in a day (1 hour in the morning, 1 at the noon, 1 at evening, 1 at night). There are villages where people don't get electricity supply for 6 hours a day. Except those who live in Metros or Cosmos, almost all towns in India have powercuts everyday for a minimum duration of 2 hours.
Given this situation do we need to have Earth Hour in India? We should rather consider the following
1. Improving the infrastructure to harvest solar power for individual homes. Use Solar Power to power our homes.
2. Reduce usage of plastic which is choking the "Crust" of our earth, thereby resulting in high pollution levels, poisoning of surface level air, reduction in ground water level
3. Reduce usage of 4 wheelers - use public transport where possible and car pool when possible.
4. Conduct strict pollution check on all vehicles that are plying on the road (especially Autos, Lorries and government vehicles including the Local transport corporation's buses)
By doing the above, we can definitely contribute towards saving earth and resources.Instead asking people to switch off power for one hour is just to frustrate the middle class people who can't afford a UPS or generator for their homes during this hot summer in India.
I believe we are getting too much into this global warming stuff due to the marketing trends of companies like I**a cellular whose Ad to use mobiles instead of paper is a big hit among the youth of the country. I never thought that Global warming could be used as a marketing strategy by someone to sell something and make money. If they are really trying to save earth, they should stop printing wall papers/ flex boards which would end up in some dumpyard and further increase pollution and rather use just MMS/ SMS to market their concept. Though they are clever enough to market their product, but if you analyze their operations, they are not "ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY".
so my suggestion is to concentrate on something productive instead of watching tv and getting inspired by some concepts that will not apply to our country like this "Earth Hour"

GodMode in Windows 7 and Vista
Although its name suggests perhaps even grander capabilities, Windows enthusiasts are excited over the discovery of a hidden "GodMode" feature that lets users access all of the operating system's control panels from within a single folder.
To enter "GodMode" one need only create a new folder and then rename the folder to the following:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
Users are able to have a single place to do everything from changing the look of the mouse pointer to making a new hard-drive partition.
The trick is also said to work in Windows Vista, although some are warning that although it works fine in 32-bit versions of Vista, it can cause 64-bit versions of that operating system to crash.
